As you will all know, Australia has had the biggest and baddest bushfires in history this year. Over 1000 homes have been destroyed, and over 200 people are dead, burned alive. Millions of acres of forest have been completely burnt out.

If you want to see some photos of the unbelievable power of nature, check out the photo gallery on my website. While you are there, if you have a few bucks to spare, then click the link to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal and make a donation. Thousands of people are homeless, having lost everything they own. With the massive floods in the North and the fires in the South, our charity organisations are stretched to the limit, and every contribution will be very gratefully accepted.

What a strange country we live in! 1/3 of the state of Queensland is underwater, in the biggest floods ever. 1/3 of the state of Victoria has been burnt to the ground in the biggest fires in history. I cannot believe that anyone can possibly deny the existence of the major climate changes that are taking hold of this fragile planet we live in!!!

While neither flooding nor fires is 'fun', I must admit I'd take flooding (even drowning) over being "burned alive" - horrible, horrible not only for the victims but for all those that loved them that will have beyond-words nightmares of how their loved ones died for many years to come, I'm sure.

I agree that it is just awful. What else can you say. All the money in the world is not going to fix this disaster. You will never clear the fear and sadness from their minds.

Really terrible what has happened in the last few weeks. My thoughts are with all of them at this time.
I think it's definately Global Warming. 2009 isn't turning out to be a good year.
I also think that other Countries will have Disasters, this year,as it affects World Climate.
The Polar Ice Caps are melting, and that's a warning sign,of worse to come.
NSW is also getting record floods. We have had Fire and Floods. What's next?Huh?

Hopefully nothing will be 'next' as surely poor Australia has taken a beating these past weeks.  It will take years for so many to even recover physically, let alone mentally from the horrors.

Does the Australian government have liaisons that work with the victims re land and property recovering etc?
