Hi Jason,
I'd just like to ask a couple of questions, and I am sure we should be able to work it out for you.

a/ Have you been using the device successfully before?

b/ If so, why do you need to reinstall drivers? Have you reinstalled Windows, or did the device develop an issue, or what? Perhaps you are moving it from one computer to another ( which also answers question c/ ) ?

c/ Did the device come with your computer, or have you added it?

d/ What is the brand and model number of the wireless card?

e/ What is the brand and model number of the computer you are installing it in?

f/ Are you using XP or Vista?

Its on my daughters xp computer which is a bit of everthing. Not a brand name computer.
A friend put it in there and it was working but the computer has been formatted and I installed all teh drivers but couldn't find the disc that went with that wireless card. So I downloaded a driver for it..

Its in the slots inside the computer and the arial sticks out the back of the computer.

Its a d link 54g wireless card.

Hi again Jason,

I'd be happy to assist you to find the correct driver for your wireless card, but I will need more information.

D-Link 54G is not sufficient information, unfortunately. I need you to open the computer and look at the card. On the card, there will be a model number clearly printed somewhere. I need this number.

If you need to, you can physically remove the card, carefully, to look at it. This should involve removing a single screw on the base plate and carefully wriggling the card till it pops out. Just make sure that when you replace it, you put it back (just as carefully) into the same slot you removed it from. Before doing this, please read the note below carefully!

A further note about opening computer cases!

Opening the computer is not dangerous, but touching the components can be, as your body contains static electricity which can cause serious damage to the components of the computer. Hopefully, you'll be able to see the model number without touching anything, but if you need to actually touch anything, then please ensure that you are holding the metal body of the computer with the other hand, in order to ground yourself and prevent static discharge.

No part of the computer is physically dangerous to you with the exception of the internal parts of the power supply (this is the box into which the power cord connects), but of course you should disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer before opening it, also to prevent damaging the computer. The internal parts of the power supply include capacitors which store electricity and can KILL you even without the power turned on, but you won't be opening the power supply (no-one ever should, nothing in there is serviceable by the user anyway) so you can open the computer in perfect safety. The computer itself runs on very small voltages, and the power coming from the cables on the power supply is only these small voltages.
