Hello everyone.  HELP!  I have an old motherboard, tower and some misc parts laying around so I thought, put it all together and let some of my family members get some use out of it.  Sounds like a good idea, seemed easy enough. Yeah right!  Nothing is ever as easy for me as it seems.  So I put it all together, install 7, then realize I should take out one of the 2 hard drives for personnel reasons.  Now I put it back together and it won't boot up. So I know I shouldn't but I get into the bios and start screwing around with boot order, BAD MISTAKE.   Now all I can get is " Network selected as first boot order"  Now I can't even get back into the bios to change anything I may have messed up.  Did some reading thru Google and found if I take out the battery it will reset the bios back. WRONG! So now I'm screwed and begging you fine folks for help.   I should have never told my brother I had a computer for him.  Hate to let him down.    So anyone out there want to give it a go?    Appreciate any help at all/ suggestions.   Jeff in cold ass Pittsburgh, Pa.
guess I should let you know it's a basic P4, 2.4 with a basic intel MB.

UPDATE:  I took the battery out for 15 minutes and when I put it back in and fired it up I get the INTEL board and the Pentium 4 logo. Still can't get into bios though. I tried hitting f2 while booting and it says "entering setup" but never does.  Anyone?

If i were you I would take a step back and put the hard drive back in...see if it works...then ask yourself why? Why won't it work without the other hard drive....which hard drive has the operating system on it...maybe you could swap the cables around...could it be that windows seven is installed on the hard drive you took out?

If it isn't I still suggest putting things back to when it was working and then start from there. let me know if any of this helps... I will work throughit with you..

I actually have 7 installed on 1 and xp on the other. I even tried putting a os disc in then turning it on and trying to get it to recognize the dd drive and boot that way. No good.  I suppose I could put the other drive in. I tried swapping out the 2 dif drives but didn't try it with both.  Good idea Mitz.   Thanks, Will report back with the results.

OK here's what happening. I put both drives in. First one set to master and second to slave.  Now when I turn it on I can get into setup but nothing shows up in my boot order in the bios.  WTF?Huh?

Hey Mitz,
I appreciate the help but I have decided to part it out.  Wouldn't want to give my brother a system that's not 100%.  Take care and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
